Conference of the ERC DREAM Project at the International Institute of Social History (IISH), Amsterdam
Interpreting the moment as a transregional one, starting from the perspective of the marginalized.
This conference aims to gather contributions focused on African and Middle Eastern areas. This choice is guided by the relatively low production of research on these areas (in comparison with South America in particular). It also appears that the repeated revolts in sub-Saharan Africa and the southern Mediterranean have often been read with focuses that have marginalized the role of supra-national policies in their outbreak, confining them to readings of protests against existing authoritarian regimes -a dimension that is certainly present, but overly reductive.
